There is a pretty big gap between the grip safety and the frame;

Do you think it's the grip safety and a new Ed brown BT would fix the gap or is the frame messed up?

It looks like the B/T is swinging out farther than typical, which is creating the gap you see. It's probably caused by the stop pads at both the bottom of the B/T and the top of the MSH being cut too far. The 'smith may have done it intentionally to help a shooter that has trouble deactivating the G/S. Either new parts or a bit of weld could stop the B/T from swinging out so far, but you might also have to put a dab of weld on the blocking arm and re-fit it to the trigger bow. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info! So you think a new MSH & Brown BT would fix it? I just found this gun for sale online; it's a Briley Versatility.

I'd try the MSH first, as there's little to no fitting involved there.

Claudio at Briley does great work and is underappreciated (IMHO). My NRM 1911 just received a full job and is on the way to Fit4Duty for their Cerakote finish. I love blue but I'm affectionately known as Acid Hands, leaving rust prints on everything. My best friend's Colt S70 done by Claudio has over 2500 rounds without a bobble and he is not known for frequent cleaning. I'll post detailed photos of mine when it returns. All that said, the BT on your pictured gun is ummm, less than stellar and I don't know much about their production stuff. If it left Briley like that, call them. They are great people.
