Anyone have one of those pistols considered a tweener? What I mean by tweener is it is between everthing else you have and you can't determine what you want to do with it. Here's mine in a previous post "anyone want to see a 1950 Bullseye Pistol" I found an older 5 inch Army/Navy competition gun. I first thought it had some type of baked on finish I now know it is blued but the frame is matt finished and the slide is poorly sanded with some minor pitting. It has the old Micro sight stilpled front and back strap. For the world of me I can't determine what I want to do with this gun. It has a national match Colt Barrel and bushing and the barrel has no play at all when the slide is locked open. It locks up tighter than any of my other guns Baer, Clark you name it. It shoots everything great hardball, wadcutter 185 gr and 200gr. Maybe retro, with hardballer fixed sights. Anyone have any suggestions What finish?

Thanks TJ

Well, if the stippling is ugly you can have the frontstrap cut off and a nicely checkered one welded on, and replace the mainspring housing with one with matching checkering. Some Yost-Bonitz retro sights (either fixed or adjustable) would be a nice touch too. Then just have the metal cleaned up and a nice blue job.

My thought was the Yobo retro sights also. I noticed your retro rocket I live in Rockwall and would like to see what they look like. I was also looking at the previous post Building a WWII Tribute pistol. I like the gun by Yam also. He talks about his parkrized finish looking like matt blue that's also a possibility.
