Do any of you like this combination? Is it a good platform for lightweight, controllable concealment? I know the other way around is very popular, just thought I'd get your thoughts on this one.

Colt had a few guns over the years in that configuration: Colt Recon, Colt Commando, Colt Ultimate Commando and I am sure some other names for what amounts to an Officer Slide on a Commander frame. The Colt's never sold too well from what I have read and a lot of people say that it is a dumb combination because the butt is the harder part to conceal.

Some have pointed out that it has some strong suits, such as better weapon retention because you have a larger grip area and a shorter barrel area for the attacker to grab.

I believe it is a personal preference type of thing and I certainly see nothing wrong with it. In fact, I plan on building one just for fun. It looks a little odd at first but I like the look of it now. I have some pictures of some of the Colt's set up this way so if you are interested let me know and I'll attempt to post them.

I've built some and they're pretty kool, especially valuble if you carry in a muzzle rearward shoulder holster.

They feel good when firing, too.

Apparently I can't link to my imagestation account for some reason

If there is another way to post pics let me know. I have three or four pics of this type of setup: 3 of Colt's Ultimate Commando & one of a Colt Recon, which was done around the ORM era.

Linking to imagestation doesn't work very well at best and most of the time doesn't seem to work at all.

Try setting up a free account at http://www.photobucket.com

It's consistantly worked great for me.
