I obtained this slide this week and it is the most unusual thing I have ever held. The only marking is "USN" on the left side. To me, the ejection port looks decidedly oversize compared to most GI slides and there is a groove cut into the top of the slide where the front sight should be. I have enclosed a couple pics. Maybe someone here can identify this slide. Thanks

I would think that the slot milled into the slide would be for a extended or "bayonet" style front sight that was popular for bullseye use. The cut does look a little long though.

Ejection port lowered to aid in reliability and stop dinging the brass

USN......just a guess, U.S. Navy

I believe the Israelis made some slide under contract for the US military sometime in the 1980s or '90s. Perhaps that is where this one came from.

I believe the Israeli made slides were done by Phobis (sp?) for the M-92. They're kinda odd loking & I've never seen it aside from photos. Don't know of an Israeli 1911 slide for our Government.

I think it was done by the Israelis around the same time that the US got a whole bunch of ammo (read "millions") in .45 headstamped TZZ.

I've seen G.I. "match" slides made in Israel. I think they were marked IMI, on the right side, near the ejection port.
