I have a S70 gun that has had a MGW sight already installed on it. I want to put Novak Tritium sights on it. Will the cut already made for the MGW be an issue?

Are you talking about a front MGW sight, a rear MGW sight or both? The only MGW rear that I know of fits the stock dovetail. MGW makes a front that's either a tenon mount (stock) or another that's a dovetail mount. Novak makes a replacement for the stock rear and one that's the same size as the MGW dovetail front, but not for the tenon front mount.

Hi John,
I'm new to this 1911 stuff. This is my first one. I bought it from a local shop for 700.00. It's been "smithed" (but no one knows by whom) and shoots like a dream. My 1911 buddy is jealous.
Here's a picture I have on my gallery site. I'll take a close-up of the sight when I get home tomorrow night. All I know is the rear sight has "MGW" stamped on it.

Now you're talking.

The rear sight is using the stock dovetail, like John said, Novak does make a drop in rear sight that doesn't require any cutting of the slide. If you want the low profile Novak rear sight, your slide will have to be machined.

I couldn't tell if the front sight is staked on or dovetailed from the picture.

I'll probably do the drop-in. This gun won't see carry use. I just need a sight my old eyes can see at the range. Black on Black, doesn't work for me:).
The front sight is pinned. I may have someone put a gold dot or tritium in it, as I don't want to cut the slide at this time. I want to get the gun reblued and back in service so I can concentrate on my Delta Elite project. Ya know, I was perfectly happy with my HK's till I found this site. You guys are gonna kill my bank account. :)

Yeah, I got very lucky. My local shop turns over a ton of used guns. If I let them know what I'm looking for they let me know when something comes in. This gun has all the internals done and is the most accurate pistol I own, and that includes my Mark23. My buddy has shot it and said, "don't change anything, it's too good and we might screw it up". I want to send it to YoBo for a reblue so everthing matches and at some point when funds permit have the slide flatened serrated etc.

I also picked up a SS Delta Elite for 600.00 and will post some pics of that project soon.
