This one has some pitting on the slide isolated to a couple areas. Is it workable as a base gun? I was thinking maybe BHP front cut. Maybe FCS although I am not a fan of them. I can buy it right if its flaws can be worked around.

Gary, Offhand, I'd say the pitting is too far forward for front cocking serrations. The HP cut would do it, and it doesn't have to be too deep it looks like to remove the pitting, though it's hard to say from the pics.

Two words Gary,

Ned.

He's got a slide top treatment he used on JDP's hardchrome Colt that would address all those issues. Besides, Ned's my hero

Ah, Ted, "Jed" starts with a "J", and how many times must I tell you, please don't get your posts over at beverlyhillbillies.com mixed up with your posts at ltw.......

But yeah, I could mow that off o' there without too much trouble, but is that the only spot, besides the one at the bottom front of the slide flat? My cut would not make that one disappear.

To correct the problem at the end of the slide, I would mill like BHP for an inch about .015 deep, silver a piece of .025 on and mill as usual. This would make the cocking cerrations project .010 and maybe feel better than the flush ones we usually do. There are many ways to solve a problem and to throw this slide away would be a shame.
