I wasn't sure where to fit this in, but you guys are the people who'll know how to do what I want:

I've acquired a pair of HK P7PSP's which come with the HK factory white-dot sights. I would prefer to have a Bomar/Heinie-type sight picture, implemented on sturdy fixed sights.

A sight picture like this one is basically what I'm looking for: http://www.louderthanwords.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27

I wonder if some custom fixed sights could be fabricated for this pistol that would produce that kind of sight picture, and still mesh with the "lines" of the pistol?

The two main problems I would guess at are: not much dovetail depth available in the rear, and consequently the rear sight couldn't be made much wider. I'm hoping someone here has some good ideas.

They are both back at HK for a going-through and rebuild, so this isn't urgent.

Zak,

I have never tried to adapt a Heinie sight yet, but here are a few photos of my P7M8 with a Novak modified to fit.

I'll tell you that it started out as a Novak low mount for a Colt .380 and then required extensive cutting. I love the finished product, but they are not really economical to make on a one up basis.

Wow, that's real nice, and close to what I'm looking for. My BHP has Novaks, but the 1911 I shoot in IPSC/3Gun has Bomars. I find the Novak sight picture a little cluttered when shooting "at speed" -- the light reflecting off the sides is distracting.

I do expect this would be quite expensive...

I could settle with a Novak-style if that's the best we could do.

Anyone intersted in this project?

I plan to H.C. the well-worn one of the pair, and would obviously like to do the sight modifications beforehand.

Well, if you can cut a set of Novaks to fit a P7, you could just as easily cut a set of the Heinies to fit. Since it is a custom sight job anyway, why not just get what you want? :)

Good point.

I'm looking for a pistolsmith with the time and inclination for this small and unique project.
