I got up early today and was going through the forum threads the same way I do each day and something really caught my eye.

I was looking at the Yost BHP's for sale by Zak Smith and for what ever reason I saw them as I never have before. I'm partial to any and all things hard chromed and in paying close attention to Ted's Craftsmanship I realized how much of Ted's heart and soul go into his building of of the BHP's.

From a practical stand point I can understand why Zak is parting with the two Brownings and I can only imagine how difficult a decision it was.

Some day I hope to be in a position to get one of Ted's Brownings. They are truly a thing of beauty.

Well Gary, I cant agree more. Infact I am sending Mr. Yost a hipower in about a week to get the SRT package and some other mods and I am going to have it hard chromed as well. I have spent a lot of time in the past few weeks looking at different smiths hi powers to try to figure out which one I wanted to send it to. After some serious concidering I decided to send it to the Yo-Bo guys. You can tell that a lot of heart and soul goes into Yosts work with great attention to detail. I was looking at the hard chromed hi power on his web site and fell in love. He and I have been talking back and forth about what work I want done and let me tell all of you, he is a hell of a guy and easy to work with. It is nice to know that you can trust his work to save yours and your familys life if needed. I have a Novak hi power with the spec ops package, its nice but its not a Yost gun. My friend Mark Graff, he is on this board, he has a Yost hi power and so does his brother. I have seen it in the past and it was nice as hell. I will be shooting this week, it will have to hold me over till I get mine. I think everone should be lucky enough to have something that was crafted from one of the best, and Yost is one of the best.

I have had several of the Yost Bonitz crew BHP's pass through my little retail operation and the guns are also functional as well as fine.

I have been blessed to see the work of most all of the major craftsman pass through. I cannot own them but sure can possess for a short period of time.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

What a job. I have to have another job to pay the rent. I am lucky that my little retail operation funds about one nice piece of work for myself about every two years.

It is worth it.

Terry,

Does this mean your prices are going up so you can afford one piece a year? :D
It must be hard with all of those fine pieces coming through your place. My kids college fund and my retirement fund just goes in the trash.
I have years of projects out there. I hope the stock market does better so I don't have to fund the kid's college education as much.
I am always willing to offer vasectomies for gunsmithing.

I have always had a love/hate relationship with BHPs due to hammer bite. It seemed I would buy one and shoot it for a while and then sell it off after I tired of the hammer bite; even no-bite hammers were of no help. That ended when I acquired a Yost-Bonitz High Power in Tripp's Hard Chrome. Ted's trigger reset modification also has to be felt to be appreciated, it almost feels like a 1911 trigger - - it resets that quickly. I now own a large assortment of HPs, most with beavertails, and will never part with them.
Here's a pic of the one that started it all:

I hope all of you will forgive me for diverging off the topic of Ted's excellent BHPs, but I gotta tell you that after reading the good doctor's post, I am laughintg so hard my sides hurt    .

Thanks Doc for giving my day a great start!!!! :D

Lester

Prices will stay the same, but unfortunately as everyone of us out there who is not independently wealthy the "cost of doing business" has increased significantly while net margins have decreased significantly.

Three or four years ago I could get one nice possession a year it it now every two years  . (I have another full time job which pays the bills and keeps my wife from kicking my rear for spending too much on :D )

But again I have been more than fortunate to have met many of these craftsman, and even more so to have seen the work and appreciate it as well as the person who built it. :D

There are those "keyboard wanna be commando's" who are full-time members of the Wal-Mart, K-Mart Regional Hostage Rescue and Special Weapons and Tactics Team  who believe and seek out every new "best price 'kool' whatever" according to the need to ninja suit up and tactically extract their six pack of bargain out of date "beer" and generic chewing tobacco from the hordes of nefarious ..............

These same folks are the ones who get their eye and heart surgeons at "blue light" specials (maybe vasectomies  ).

Then........ there are those who know skill, quality, knowledge, experience and above all the value of what is a slowly diminishing craft being replaced by..............the above.

Most all members of LTW does it research and gets what it pays for up front and not in the back end.

I know what you mean. I have been extremely happy with Ted and Tim. Their work is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have some toys from Don coming soon. I am on Stan and Ned's list. When I catch up, I will plan for a pair from John and Chuck.

The Louder than Words group is definitely my favorite group of gun guys. Not only is their work stellar! They are good people.

Merry Christmas.
