Could someone define custom or semi custom ? For example: I have Bob Chow Colt. The gun is accurized and has Bo mar sights. He had a "one man shop" and only build a gun when someone ordered one. Highthawk Talon is build by a few gunsmiths and send in very limited numbers to the gunshops. Does that make it semi custom? On the other hand SA Custom Shop with the exeption of the FBI model will only make a gun when someone orders it. I never saw a SA Custom ,say a PPC gun on the display at any gunshop. But SA Custom shop is not a "one man shop" but maybe an 8 man shop, does that put them somewhere in the middle? And then if they were a one or two man shop thay would be considered true custom guns? Now as far as quality of workn goes, where do You know the difference? My S&W early production 945 shoots breath taking groups, NEVER jams and looks really nice. Would it be more desireable or better in any way if smith and wesson decide to only have two people build them?

One is made completely to a customers spec's (both in the scope of work and the parts used) and the other comes from the factory with most of the features and all of the parts already decided.

Some of the semi-custom shops will allow you to spec the parts and/or the mods on exsisting packages. In those cases I would call that gun a custom gun. From what I have been told Rock River is pretty flexible in that way. Others are not especially the ones that make their own parts.
