I am looking at a pre-70 series for a signature grade custom build. The frame is marked "BB" under the serial number and I am being told that these markings indicate an experimental prototype run of the C suffixed Commericals. Any reason not to build on on of these?

If this isn't the appropraite place for this question, I apologize. I am still new here and getting acquainted with the local customs (no pun intended).

They are fine for base guns and should be evaluated on an individual basis, like any other. IIRC, the BB guns were the test bed for the Seies '70 features.

The "BB" pistols were the first Colt pistols to be sold with the collet bushing. They are somewhat collectible due to the status as a transistional model with the Series '70 feature without the Series '70 rollmark. Other than that, each needs to be evaluated on its own merits like any other Colt.
