I am constantly amazed and inspired by the efforts and art I see on this site. In that vain, I have "built" a carry HP from one of my personal guns. It is one of the CDNN FN specials. It is not done. The metal work that I did on it is just cold blued for now to cover the white metal and provide some protection. The finished gun will have a parked and Gun-Kote stainless colored finish when I get all of the finish work done and the media blast on the frame and the slide will be left matte black. It will also get a set of Gunner grips that I have laying around here when this is finished. I may polish and blue the slide, just not sure yet. That and flat topping and some slide top treatment of some kind perhaps. Here is the short list
C&S sear
C&S thumb safety
Will have C&S wide trigger when the come in
Front and back strap stippling, back strap stippling kept low for palm grip and no thumb web irritation
Bobbed and profiled hammer with reworked cocking serrations
Internal polish, refit and tuning
4 lb trigger
Mild mag well work.

Thanks for all of the information and inspiration from the site. Please excuse the minor scratches on the grips, this is one of my carry/working guns.

Not bad, not bad at all. What did you use for the stippling, and now that you have done all of this, is there anything you would have done different.

Pretty nice job. I like the stippling, and it's pattern.
Any plans for sight changes?

Thanks.
There is not much I would change. If I needed night sights, I would change them, but I find the FN sights with the white posts to work great for me. Fast to aquire and right on POA/POI.
I think that with the Gun-Kote stainless on the lower frame and the matte finish, it will be great. I am looking at the pics, I can see where the back of the grips being scratched does not do a lot for the look of the stippling. I am going to media blast and park the lower today. I may go for a blue polish finish on the slide, just for something different. I have also thought about flat topping the slide and stippling the flat top. There have been several posts on here with guns stippled on the slide top and back of the slide, and I like that look. I am not really too hot on slide top serrations, but stippling would be different. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I have a pretty good fondness for blued and polished slides over stainless.

I am not sure that I would do too much different. I like the whole front strap stippled and the reason for just stippling the lower half was to get a great grip on the palm of the hand with no irritation to the web near the thumb.

On the hammer, I kept bobbing it until I got symmetry with the hand guard and it looked balanced, and it was still very functional. I deepened and slightly sharpend the cocking serrations on the hammer to give it a bit more secure and sure grip when cocking. It is a but aggresive, but very useful and now there no way it will bite. When in use, the gun is carried cocked and locked, so there is hardly ever any hand cocking done to this gun. I don't know if you can see it, but I also took some material off of the lower part of the hammer to give a bit more clearance to the part of the hammer that overlaps the thumb web. I like the balanced look of the hammer, it is functional and seems to have worked out well.

I think that with a tiny bit of cleanup on the edges of the stippling to give it more definition between the transition from smooth to stippled, a nice Gun-Kote stainless lower frame, a blued and polished slide and the C&S wide trigger, this one will be done. I did not know that the HP could have this good a trigger. When I say 4 lbs, it is on the light side of 4 lbs. I have a 26# hammer spring in it now and I may go to a 28 or 29 just to raise the weight of the trigger pull a pinch. I am also working out a way to take out most of the trigger reset and have found something that will work really well, is easy to do, and adjustable to a small extent. My secret for now until I am sure that it works and is safe and provides reliable service.

Deez.
