I'm still trying to firm up my wants/needs for a yost pistol. Is there any significant difference between a 1* elite and a yost custom with the same features? I notice that Ted doesn't do alot of 'tactical' looking 1911s but since i have a more fancy custom gun of his and desire a rail 1911 i was thinking of stuff that would be an appropriate addition to such a project. I think ball cuts, top/rear slide serrations, magwell, a rail would be good starts..

I'd get whatever suits your fancy. I put on a Dawson rail on a Dane Burns customized Kimber and then sent it to George Smith at EGW for his new Etreat finish. It looks and shoots great. The Yost Bonitz rail looks to be the same size as the Dawson rail. If it is, it's fine. The Caspian Recon rail and the Novak rail are much larger and turn the 1911 into a much bulkier gun that's harder to conceal. Also in my opinion they make the graceful 1911 a much uglier gun.

YoBo will give you the hookup. You can order the 1* without the markings, it you wish. And they can only put the markings on guns with Novak or YoBo pro sights.

Brother Methias,

Ted will take care of you either way.

Remember the old saying of "The Devil is in the Details"?

Basically that is the difference. If you get one of Ted's - Yost Custom / Signature Grade guns, what you get is a tremendous amount of extra detail time. All the little factory cosmetic issues get fixed in addition to having a perfectly functioning gun.

Give the shop a call to discuss it with Jason.

Best,

Ray

Sure, I do "tactical". It's a well kept secret, though. I lost my real deal supertactical guy ID card and I've been through 34 boxes of cereal looking for a new one, but no luck yet

Don't be misled by the polished blue, wood and ivory. Functionally, accuracy-wise, and durability-wise a gun with the "tactical" features you want will have exactly the same level of workmanship as an elegant heirloom grade 1911. Barrel fit, feedramp, action components and setup, most of the parts selection will be identical. You're just specifying a differing set of options, and likely a different finish.
