I have a Baer Commanche Monolith -- I like the gun, but I hate the Rollmarks ("Les Baer Custom"). Is it possible to have the Rollmark removed. What is involved? Thanks!

Surface grinder, proper technique and patience.

I do not know how familiar you are with Norinco 1911s but they have a ton of roll marks/stampings all over the slide and frame...I have Alex Hamilton of 10 Ring Precision remove them all (other than the serial #)

You can always sell this one and order a new one from Baer. Les was happy to leave all the slide markings off my newest pistol. All I had to do was ask when I ordered it. :D

Got that right. I got a Premier 2 that is certainly non-standard:

I've been thinking about ordering an STI Legacy, the only thing holding me back has been the fugly roll marks/scrolling.

I might have to order one and have a grinder taken to it.

Call first. I'm sure on a 2K gun - they'll work with the customer to get what you want.

I know STI's customer service is good, I have two of their guns already, but I'm not sure how "custom" they'll go anymore.

I'll have to check into it.

I would be very interested to know, too. Please let us know what you find out.

Thanks.

Nighthawk even discounted my gun when I requested no rollmarks rather than charging more.

That makes the most sense, but hardly anyone does it. Kudos to NH. It's fewer cuts and off the milling line faster!

Here is a pic of my Rogers custom. Colt slide with all roll marks removed. I think the smooth sides are pretty tough to beat as far as appearance goes.

I also really like the look of bare slides and order most of mine that way unless the customer wants it otherwise. I have also removed the rollmarks from a Colt or two and an SA. The stampings are not that deep. Just a quick swipe or two on the sanding table and then repolishing by hand to bring it back to the level that they want.

On the Les Baer slide. It is a long story, but my son's SA now sports a Les Baer slide with no roll marks. Pretty snazzy. The only thing that I miss about the SA slide was the vertical cockers and no forward cockers. The new slide has the forward slanted cockers that I don't really care for.
