Can Cerakote be put on top of Hard Chrome or does the HC have to be stripped off?

I'd like to blacken a slide that is HC but don't want to give up the HC durability.

Would have best of both worlds if I could put it on top and touch the black up as it wore but not worry about rust etc. Is that a pipe dream?

I have put Cerra kote on hard chrome. Not a problem. Surface should have a slight matte to it as most hardchrome does.

I'm not sure I want to do it yet as I have not tried the pistol yet (heck haven't even got it yet) but thought I'd ask the pros first just in case.
