I think the Unertl is grossly overpriced. Take the same amount of money and you could buy a Springfield Pro with or without rail or a CQB, a Nighthawk or a number of other Production customs and have money left over for ammo. I have only seen 2 Unertl's, they were probably early models and I wasn't not favorably impressed. When I was told the price I thought then they were probably a $1000.00 to high. My opinion only. I think you would be better off with a Kimber Warrior which you can buy for $1000-$1200 around here.

I have handled one and it was cosmetically and mechanincally challenged.

Played around with one myself and while well built and fairly accurate I sure don't feel that it's worth the $2,000+ price tag. There are better guns out there for probably half the price!

I dont this it could be said any better than Mr. Lombardo put it. At the very least, buy a Kimber rail gun, or just a frame and have one of the smiths build on up for you. In the end it will be money well spent, and it will be to your specs, not someone elses.

Buy once, cry once. With 2800 there are many of smiths on this board that will build you a much better gun.

My RRA only ran about $1700.00 and even though it is not in the same league as my new Yost signature grade S.A. I felt it was a fair price for what I paid for. I could put another grand into it and have a nicer roscoe than the Unertl.

RRA, IMHO, is the best semi-custom out there for the money. You won't need to spend any more money on it unless you want to add some features that it did not have. Of course I can only speak for my one and only RRA. It is a 5 inch EC hardchrome, very early gun with no roll mark on the slide. It was built to custom spec for a customer, then not shot any at all and I bought it. It has been totally flawless. If I were to be in the market for that type of gun, it would be a very short list. RRA. And then you can have some choices in how it will be built. I am not sure what the wait time is now, but it was 6-8 months at one time. Then perhaps an Ed Brown or Nighthawk. That being said, I personally would just buy a Caspian frame and slide, a pile of parts and build one for myself just the way I wanted it. And there would be no way I would have 3K in the gun.
