Not really a custom but different. I traded into a Colt 1911 Mid range 38 special. I really like the 38 special in autos they are so fun to shoot. I have a S&W model 52 with Bar Sto barrel fitted by the Barsto guys. Its flawless and greatt fun to shoot. Anyway the Colt I just got is a about 85%.
I was having problems at the range today my wad cutters were failing to feed with a nose up attitude at a 30 degrees angle. The nose of the case was hanging up on the top of the barrel chamber.
What do you guys think is causing this? weak mag spring, week recoil spring or bad bullits. PS I know I was not limp wristing it because it was doing it on the first round out of the mag when I dropped the slide and on some 3rd or 4th rounds out of the 5 round mags.
When I returned home I cleaned the gun. It has the tighest barrel bushing I have ever seen and believe me I have some that pretty tight bushings on my Bullseye 45 wad guns.
Thanks
TJ

TJ, All else being ok, I would check the uniformity of your feedlips on your magazine. I have one as well and even with old springs it feeds well as long as the feedlip spread is even front to rear. hope that helps some. Chuck

Those 38 1911's are fun and humbling too!
Clark's does a modification to .38 magazines to cure that specific problem.
A few yrs back I aquired a Giles 38 conversion that would not feed reliably. Sent my mags to Clark and now they run just fine.
