Here are some snaps of a re-issue Colt Series '70 that I have customized as one of my Peerless packages (current spec), finished in hard chrome by Metaloy. The only items added were a countersunk slide stop pin, a stop stud for the ambi safety and a good assortment of spares, already fitted and finished. Both good gear for the southpaw owner. Hope you enjoy.

PRETTY work, John!!! The way hardchrome magnifies metal flaws, it's obvious you spent a LOT of time detailing this pistol. :D

"Peerless". That just about sums it John. I have been wanting to
see one of your Colt projects in hardchrome.
Thanks for the photos.

John,

Very nicely done. I love all the perfectly executed little details on the top end.

Best,

Ray

Beautiful work, John!
What a great way to christian your 'full-time' status.
Is 'Peerless' a line of package guns you will be crafting?

Great looking gun John. You certainly have your style developed nicely. Not that you need it but good luck on the new endeavor. Some folks are going to get some heirloom quality guns.

Nice set, it looks flawless. I do have a question though, and it might be stupid but whats the need for the ambi safety stop stud you added. What is gained by adding it.

This is the first time I've seen a Heinie mag well that I've liked the looks of. Congratulations on your work!

Simply elegant, John.

What ambi safety did you start out with? The half-moon like design of the right side (correct side for us southpaws) lever of the safety is one I don't think I've seen before.

Stunning piece!

Very nice work Mr. Harrison. I was never a fan of "white" guns until I joined this forum. Now I'm going to have to get one!

Guys, thanks for all your most kind comments. I do appreciate it.

Chuck - Yes, I named my top of the line package "Peerless". It's proven to be a very popular set of specs as more than half of my standing orders are for a Peerless.

dbltap45acp- The stop stud is a belt and suspenders approach to minimizing ambi safety joint loosening or breakage. It gives a positive stop for a left hander who shoots with his thumb on top of the safety. It comes into play best, if the owner changes grips and the top of the new grip panel doesn't support the safety's shelf. Then the stop stud is there to keep torque from going through the joint in the ambi safety's shaft and stopping on the other side. With a stop stud or correctly fitted grip panel, the left hand half of the safety should not torque the right hand hald and vise versa.

Buck - That's a Ed Brown wide that I reshape to a "medium" contour.

Thanks again! :D

Mr. Harrison, thanks for the reply. After explaining the stop stud I kind of feel stupid for not getting that one my self. Everything is different for south paws, I even find it hard to instruct leftys on shooting. Leftys are a PITA to teach because its hard to explain things backwards. Its mostly my own fault, I know it should be easy nut I make it harder than it should be. Anyways, back on the subject, you make one hell of a lead thrower.

Beautiful gun, Mr. Harrison!! As soon as I read your mention of stop studs I knew what they were for and I'm a righty. Funny thing though....they never occurred to me. I especially appreciate your melding of the MSH, magwell and grips. Just superb!

Does the owner plan to use it for target shooting, competition or just admiring?

John,

You did an incredible job on it !!

Yes guys, I'm the lucky one :D who gets to appreciate John's work firsthand. I haven't received it yet but I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm dying to see how the safety feels with the stud stop. Love that slide work too!

Glad everyone likes the hardchrome, I'm a big fan (especially at cleaning time).

Thanks to John for taking such great pictures too, you would've never gotten that good out of my camera!

I'll admire it the rest of my life (and throw in some target shooting along the way).

Congratulations FJD. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with this gun for a long time. I got a chance to see this gun when it just came back from getting hardchrome, it took my breath away. I really love the opening that John incorporated into the front of the Heinie magwell to facilitate finger stripping the magazine if necessary during a malfunction, not that a Harrison gun will do that.
Again, beautiful gun, you're a lucky man.

That is a beautiful gun. Having just finished telling Mr. Harrisson that I'm not fond of non-blued 1911's I see this thing. It is making me change my mind! Well done.
