I just picked up my first Blued Delta Elite last week after many months of searching. It appeared to be in very good cosmetic and mechanical shape. I field stripped it upon bringing it home and nothing looked remarkable. Dropped a new standard length guide rod, shock buffer and Wolff recoil spring in and went to the range.

Perfect. Not a hiccup and nice groups. :)

I field stipped the Delta and spent a little more time with it when I got home from the range.

THE ISSUE: Inside the magazine well and on the part of the mainspring visable through the magazine well there are very small flecks of what appears to be rust. There isn't so much that I am extremely concerned, but I want to take care of this as soon as possible.

What should I do in general, and what method of cleaning should I use to get the rust off? Does the pistol need a detail stripping to see if there is rust anywhere else? Again, the pistol appears to have been cared for very well, but may have been in storage for a long time.

Thanks for the help.

Immediately send it to YO-BO for a 1* enhanced package. Or send it to the R&G home for challenged Delta Elites. I will nurse it back to health.

I have a couple of brushes in the shop made for magwells. I do not know where they came from and I cannot tell you where to get one. They were from the IPSC days. I think a good .45 bore brush, plenty of Hoppe's Number Nine, scrub that area out good, and then spray it with some rem-Oil would be what I would do. Use plenty of rags and get it noice and clean.
OOOPPPPSSS! Sorry to give you some real advice. Please excuse me! I am getting too old for this stuff!
