I would much prefer either pinched/peened or better yet welded up/refit rails. If im going to be that concerned with group size on a 1911 I would probably have one built from a new frame with oversize rails to begin with. Hell I dont think i can shoot well enough to make up for a super tight vs. "standard" frame/slide fit any how.

A properly-fitted match barrel will do a lot more to improve accuracy that tightening the slide to frame fit, IMO. I would only have the slide/frame fit 'improved' if it was really nasty, like a couple of 1980's Colts I used to own.

I thought I would jump in real quick and say a few words. If you have a super sloppy frame and slide fit, and you would like to tighten up the pistol, I suggest looking further into Accu-rails. I have done a few jobs that had accu-rails installed and the results were paramount.

One pistol I rebuilt with the accu-rails had a very poor side and frame fit. The main concern was that the dust cover was contacting the spring tunnel on the slide horribly. Bob Krieger installed the rails, fixede the alignment issues, and sent me back one nice setup for me to finsh out the platform i started with. If you look at the Colt Deltas that were posted, they both had accu-rails in them. If you go to "more work" on my website, you can see the group size of the test targets.

Rather than work the peening and squeezing, I suggest accu rails to anybody wanting make a match pistol our of an ordinary, run of the mill...production 1911. They are a bit pricy, but I think they are well worth it.

Take it for what it's worth.
Bob

One big benefit I have always liked the Accu-Rails for is that you can shoot the gun loose, then install new rail inserts for that "better than new" feeling all over again.

:D
