Hello All........ I have been reading here for a long time but have not posted much (hope to change that soon).

Here is my question(s). I recently aquired a new to me 1911, it appears to be a little older or at least well used. It does nt appear abused just well worn. The frame is clearly a Caspian steel frame that is bobtailed and checkered.
The slide is 5" with ".45 ACP" engraved on the left side and "HCA Custom" on the right. I beleive it is possibly a Caspian slide as well but do not find any external markings to denote the manufacturer, is there something else I should look for?

Anyone have any ideas who "HCA Custom" might be?

Is there a reliable way to figure out who manufactured the slide?

Thanks in advance.............

Not to be 100% sure, but the slide looks like a Caspian as well. The cocking serrations and ejection port are a visual match. The disconnector engagement pad under the slide should have a string of numbers indicating the lot number of the slide too.

I would check to see if there are numbers, possibly call Caspian and give them the numbers and see if they can look up any info - possibly reference the serial number and see who the smith is that bought the setup, how long ago, and maybe even contact info. That is if there are numbers as suggested.

Thanks,
Bob

An update if anyone is interested. I contacted Caspian and they said it was in fact a Caspian slide and that both the slide and frame were shipped to "Hill Country Arms", which explains the HCA Custom engraving.

Armed with the information from Caspian, I contacted HCA and spoke with someone who basically said, "We have not done anything like that since Thunder Ranch left and took the 1911 market with them". Unfortunately he was not willing to waste any more of his time with me and promptly ended the call.

If anyone has any interesting information about Hill Country Arms, please feel free to share. If not........ I tried...........

If this is the same group that builds rifles(and I believe it is), they have a pretty good reputation. Your pistol looks like quality work. How does it run?
