The finish is standard hot salt bluing with a good bit of prep work. JR French did the bluing after he finished the engraving. From what I can tell, the older steels tend to blue much more evenly, as the blue job Dave Sams did on it after he completed the build was quite nice as well. The prep work is a big factor, too.

Thanks Jim! Yeah I really like the look of that. Although I've never seen such a "dark" bluing before. But I will be starting a project gun soon, either on my kimber, or on a new base gun, and will definetly get some of you talented folks to do the work!
