Alright,
I'm finally having my custom built. It's going to be a "spartan" type build (Not Steve Morrison's "Spartan") in that it's going to be "no bling, all business....with a touch of "retro") Basically, it will have the stock grip safety, commander hammer, 10-8 trigger, and Etreat (with a lot of other cool stuff inside). I want a nice grippy grip but nothing too aggressive looking (ie gunners). I want something that's kind of understated, yet functional. Here's what I'm thinking ...

YoBo/VZ black double diamonds
Smooth VZ's (like the ones on one of John Harrison's builds he posted here a while back)
VZ Operators
Alumagrips
Mil-Tac grips

Which would you pick?
Thanks so very much

Rich

I really like the Yost DD VZ grips, anyone know if these are available without the ambi cut?

Yost DD VZ grips are excellent - I have installed them on several of my 1911's. Interestingly, all the sets I have ordered have come without the ambi cut - I had to add the cut with my router table and a 1/2" carbide spiral bit. These have quickly become my favorite non-ornamental (i.e not figured wood or ivory) 1911 grips.

Great, I haven't had a chance to call and ask about the ambi. Thanks.

I'd vote for the YoBo/VZ black double diamonds. It's the classic look, yet understated in black.

I put black Alumagrips on my Ed Brown SF. They match up just fine.
