I have 10mm mags from colt with welded base plated and removable base plates with round followers and the “split” followers and metalform mags with the round followers. I like the Colt mags with the removable base pad and the round follower the best for both cleaning and reliability.

I notice many others here enjoy the 10mm as much as I do and I have noticed many FINE 10mm’s coming out of Ted’s shop. What are your recommendations and experiences on 10mm mags? I would like to purchase some more but am not sure if I can even get the Colt mags I like and I have also seen 10mm mags from Trip and Mec-Gar.

Thoughts?

I have had the best luck with the original Delta Elite mags with removable followers. (they have jumped in price like crazy over the past year or so). I like the smooth feel of the mags that come (or at least came with) Dan Wesson 10's. These have a marking on the baseplate that looks like a circular "M". The limited experience that I have with CMC mags (one) is that the idea of an extra round is great, but I cannot get it to run right. I waited too long to send it in for warranty work/repair.

If you consider this from a purist's standpoint, many people want a 45 magazine that holds the original JMB design number of 7. The 10mm gives you an honest (conservative) 8, with the potential for 9+1.

I thought Wilson was building 10mm pistols again. What are they using for magazines?

Or was that a limited run last year?

Those are from Metalform and they're pretty good. To me, the best mags are the Tripp Cobramags. Well made, consistent performance, and reasonably priced.

I have three blued factory Colt, and three stainless Mec-Gars (fixed base, flat follower), and all work great. I've had experience with two McCormick 9-rounders, and the one that still has a baseplate attached to it doesn't work too well. The top round seems very eager to squirt out with little provocation.
