Does anyone know what became of the company that made Mad Dog Grips? They seem to bring a premium ($200-$300 per pair), but they are no longer being made from what I understand and impossible to find.

Steve Morrison of Mars Armament has talked about resurrecting them from time to time-- I don't know what the current status of that is. He was partnered with Mad Dog at the time these grips were being made.

There are lots and lots of G10 grips available these days. I was using some from DutyRated.com but I'm not sure these are available anymore either. they were much like the MD's but without the metal inserts for the screws.

VZGrips is one of the first places to go these days for grips from materials like G10.

Ned, Is 100% correct in his responce. I have spoken to Steve several times about making them again but, he seems to have too many irons in the fire. They are very comfortable ! I have a set on my combat commander that i got back in those days . good luck in your search.

OK guys, thank you for the input. I have looked around for another pair, but have been unable to find anything quite like them.
Thanks again!

Another great G10 grip to look at are Lazza's Monkeygrips. I put a pair of black/gray Horned Lizards on my Kimber Classic Stainless and they're awesome. Even better is that Larry has great customer service and has been working with G10 on his knife handles for years...you won't be disappointed.

His website is http://davidsonknives.com/grips/grips.htm

Yes! I shoulda mentioned him too.

The neatest thing about the MD's was the inserts, but actually, they were stepped and pressed in from the back, so in actuality, the metal inserts were held on by the grip screws, and the grip panels you could say were pressed over the inserts. I'm sure they never failed, I never heard of any probs, but I always thought the inserts shoulda been pressed in from the outside. That way the step in them would mechanically hold the grip panels in place.

But yeah, the MD's were cool, they had a different profile than standard grips. More of a radius/ flat / radius as opposed to one big radius.

Quite right about the grip profile. I had a pair back in the day and didn't like them at all. They were way too square and made a 1911 feel more like a double-column plastic wondergun.

Here are a couple pics of some Mad Dogs on one of my pea shooters for anyone that's interested.
I think the Novak's grip screws go well with it. The grips are very thick and may be G-10, but feel more like some kind of other epoxy/synthetic.
Enjoy!

They look good on that .50.

You calling this gun a pea-shooter reminds me of last year at SHOT, Ted Nugent stopped by the LTW booth. I showed him a .50 GI I had collaborated on with the guys at Guncrafter. Now Ted is a big 10mm guy and from what I've seen pretty much will suffer no conversation of another caliber. I handed him a .50 GI dummy round and he grins and says "Wow. That's really nice. If your hunting little bunny rabbits or something! But if it really matters, only a 10 mm will do!" ... or something very much to that effect. This guy can pull jokes and jabs out of the air as easily as most of us breathe!

How about some feedback on this gun in another post?

LOL! OK Ned, will do.
I am anxious to get a 10mm project underway as well...still looking for a nice all stainless base gun in a non enhanced Delta Elite.
I saw one of your Delta Elite's a while back with Conamyds that was absolutely stunning. I appreciate your comments!
