Here are some pics of a recently completed Caspian based Government Model in 10mm caliber. It was originally on order for a client who had some misfortune and had to cancel. I decided to move on with the project and build it to my specs. The pistol features a carbon steel slide and frame and a ramped Nowlin barrel. The rest of the goodies are as follows:

Yo-Bo Pro Grade rear sight for Heinie cut
H-D Gold Bead front sight pinned to slide
Slide flat topped and serrated 40lpi -w- radiused borders
Lowered & fluted ejection port
Rear of slide serrated 50 lpi
Ball cuts at dust cover
Heavy Bevel on bottom of slide
H-D logo spring plug & bushing -w- flush crowned barrel
CMC beavertail
Ed Brown thumb safety reshaped to medium contour
3.5 lb trigger pull utilizing EGW ignition parts
EGW slide stop, serrated on the underside & countersunk
Front strap checkered at 25 lpi -w- smooth bottom border
Ed Brown flat MSH, checkered 25 lpi
Round butted grip frame
Hand crafted Desert Ironwood grips
Beveled mag well
Carry bevel package
Finished in IonBond DLC -w- polished slide flats

Enjoy the pics! :D

Outstanding work John!!! Love the 10mm and the details you put into it.

How does the Ion Bond DLC hold up? It really looks nice.. dare I say, like a nice blue job. The effect of polishing the flats and brushed rounds looks incredible. Does this stuff work on stainless guns as well?

I love the traditional look of bluing but I am not really to be trusted with a blued gun... at least not for a working piece.

Jeeeez ... what a freaking monolith! The gun appears to be machined from one solid block of steel. Unbelievable fit, finish and imagination ... and that grip frame treatment! There's a very fine line between genius and insanity. Someone lock up this madman ... please

Smooth and clean perfection!

Love your work John!

I was not aware the IonBond could be polished. It looks great! How difficult was the polish work?

That's a clean machine, buddy - all the way around.

There's a lot to like on this one.

Simply amazing, like everything else coming out of your shop. Everytime I shoot the Springer you and Ned built for me I am amazed by your abilities.

Im dying to get my bushing and reverse plug done with your new design along with that deep crown you do.

Matt

Matt please ... this forum is rated PG!

I'm only joking with you, man ... and besides, who am I to judge? I paid good money for a reverse plug and deep crown job ... and Harrison is one of the best in the business

Yesterday I went by John's shop to look at the Ion Bond finish on this pistol, and I must say that this pistol is much more impressive in person. The details just make this blaster feel amazing in the hand. The fit of the grips to the frame is perfection. This gun locks up like a band vault door, and it is fit like a 10mm should be. The little details like the work on the slide stop, the round butt on the frames and custom grips, and the grip safety fit make this a very elegant and functional weapon.

Congrats to the lucky new owner.

BTW, this pistol sold me on the Ion Bond finish for my well-worn Series '70 blaster than is in John's shop for some updates.

Ah, yes ... most eloquently stated, Mr. farscott. May I add this pistol instantly joins in holy union with the shooter's strong hand as a result of those subtle refinements to which you refer. I harbor yet a single regret after handling this beauty ... and that is I'm much slower on the draw with a checkbook than I am with a pistol. Another missed target opportunity... :(

I had a chance to sneak preview this gun before John posted it and before the new owner took possession. Wow, it's a beautiful gun, just like all the others he built. Everytime I see a new one coming off John's bench, I'd say that's the nicest one, he keeps outdoing his previous work. When will it ever stop?
The round butt treatment is becoming my favorite over the bobtail, and John executed this as well as the best in the business. I love the ballcut on the slide and the YoBo Pro rear sight is functional as well as practical. I have to say that the gold bead front sight once thought as a fad, is quite practical for old eyes. The handcrafted grips are perfectly matched to the ion bond treatment, which in real life looks like matte blued finish.

Congratulations to the new owner.
