Does anyone have any personal experience with re-engraving Colt roll marks?
I spoke with Bill Adair a while back. He's real busy. I'll wait if his work is worth it!
Anyone else to contact?
Thanks!

I had a Delta slide come through that Mr. Adair had re-done. It was flawless. I'd wait as long as it takes.

JR French is also very good, I don't know if he does rollmarks, but I do know he just got busier - I sent him a pair

+1 on Adair

I have a S70 slide and frame getting reworked by Adair; rampant, lettering, serial number, the works.

I have seen a couple pistols that have been "restriked" by Adair and they are awesome in person.

Well worth the wait IMO

I recently emailed Mr. Adair and asked if he would be interested in re-lettering a couple of 70 series slides once he started taking work again. He reply was-
Quote:
I've re-cut numerous S70 and Delta slides, and all have been diamond-hard. So hard that they break the tool point every few seconds or so. They're a major headache, so I'd like to pass on those.
Thanks,
Bill

I've had Mr. Adair re-do rollmarks for me in the past, and his work is absolutely flawless. I have a gun going to Accurate Plating and Weaponry for hard chrome, and Bob Cogan will address the rollmarks. His method is with a pantograph, and he is confident that he will be able to bring the faded pony back to "better than factory" condition.

I know Doug Turnbull used to restore rollmarks. I have no idea about turn around time but the work would obviously be top shelf.

I just sent a Combat Commander slide off to Turnbull to re-strike the horse, as the polishing removed it's head (real shallow there). They stated that I did need to remove the rest of the horse so they could re-stamp (their term) it. Cost is about 50-60 bucks. I'll let you know how it comes out.

For Delta roll marks try Bob Miller. He has done one for me that is fantastic! I know he has done a few others and I am sure someone has pics.

Does anyone know if one or more of these guys could rollmark a completely blank slide to spec ... say early Commander or Commercial Gov't model?

Thanks

Chuck,

I have a bit of personal experience with JR French recutting rollmarks on a Delta slide, a 1925 commercial slide, and a series 70 Big Letter. He does great work and his prices are right. Also, he told me that if the marks had to be redone after the pistol had been worked and dressed, that he'd do it over at no charge. Pretty good service if'n yer askin' me.

Chuck-

Give Phil at Glenrock a call... I think he knows someone that handles such things.
