I posted this some other gun boards but I wanted to share it with the guys on LTW. I think I am going to send this pistol to ionbond for finishing so excuse some of the blemishes.

I finally got around to taking some pics of a pistol I recently had completed for me by a Phoenix, AZ smith named Marty Kolodziej of Accuracy Speaks. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted going into this pistol. Some of my expectations where:
  • Reliability
  • Accuracy
  • Ease of disassembly
  • Gun capable of absorbing double charges
  • A durable finish that required minimal oil
  • Reliability

I think Marty was able to accomplish this and more exceeding even my own ridiculously demanding expectations. Another point of note which I will mention is that Marty had the pistol back to me in less than 6 weeks. :scared: That is impressive.

Marty temporarily Duracoated the pistol for me until I decided on a more durable finish. So please excuse the finish wear as that is not the gunsmiths fault; this pistol sees about 300-500 rounds per week.

Specs are:

• Forged STI “Lawman” slide and frame
• STI link
• STI barrel
• STI grip safety
• STI S7 tool steel hammer and sear
• Custom contoured STI mainspring housing
• Extended ejector and everything else not mentioned is STI
• Weld up frame and refit beavertail
• Reliability package
• Flush cut and recess crown muzzle
• French borders
• Trigger job 3 1/2 lbs
• Carry bevel package
• High cut frontstrap
• ISMI 16# recoil spring
• ISMI 23# mainspring
• EGW slide stop re-contoured.
• EGW custom fit bushing and engraved plug
• EGW oversized, square bottom fitted firing pin stop with 1/32” radius
• 2 Wilson Bulletproof tuned and serrated extractors
• Wilson government guide rod
• Wilson mag catch
• Ed Brown’s extended thumb safety
• Heinie XX Magwell
• Heinie “Straight 8” Tritium night sights.
• Laser etched Alumagrips with aggressive checkering, internally lightened

I hope everyone enjoys the pix!

Nice one. How does it shoot? I've heard of Accuracy Speaks but thought they did mainly rifle work.

It shoots great! Much more accurate than I am. AS is definitely known for their rifle work, Derrick Martin is a rifle guru. Marty is a newer addition and does primarily pistols and is a genius in his own right.

I actually think that looks really cool. I can appreciate a nice BBQ piece, but much prefer a well-used-yet-cared-for look on guns.

Thanks for sharing,

-R.

I am curious how he was able harden your gun against a double charge? I have seen several first hand and I don't know how that is possible to avoid major damage using what is currently available.

That statement has been misconstrued on several boards. I did not mean to say he made me a gun made of unobtanium that can withstand pressures far greater than mere normal handguns. :D The gun has a ramped barrel and Alumagrips which hopefully would protect my hand and face against carelessly loaded ammo better than the traditional un-ramped 1911 barrel and wood grips. Sorry for being unclear.

I would have to say that it goes along with the working gun concept, that in an emergency, I would be able to shoot the ammo available without as much worry as to whether it would wound me or not.

Hi,

Nice 1911!

Have you had this "ionbonded" yet? Can you post a photo?

Thanks!

Andy

No I have not. I am still kicking the idea around and I have not really decided on a finish.
