I wanted to ask the forum members their opinion.
I have a Pachmayr Signature Model built on a Colt Gold Cup National Match Large Letter Series 70.
Its really a neat gun and I consider it the prize of my collection.
I don't know a lot about Pachmayrs but I think this is their top of the line gun made in the late 70s It has all the custom bells & features like hard crome, low mounted & burried Bo Mars, King's safty, frame tightner checkerd flat back strap custom extended barrel bushing, trigger job and of course the Pachmayr signature rubber grips. I know this is a pretty rare gun but do you think I should sell it or keep it. If I sell it will I ever find another? How many do you think were made?

Thanks TJ

The "Signature" model was Frank Pachmayr's obsession to wring every bit of accuracy out of a 1911. They were never popular dur to cost and complication. I missed on online last year for $1200. Pachmayr Combat Specials bring double or triple the price of the Signatures in my experience as they are more mainstream in look and operation and were the winning IPSC guns of the day and were promoted by the big names like Fowler, Seyfried and of course Col. Cooper.

I would like to see a pic. A Signature model comes up for sale about once per year online.

That one is just ok, IMHO. No beavertail, rubber MS housing, extended slide stop. I guess I always think of Ray Chapman's or Ross Seifreid's guns.

I'm sorry, but I think that is one COOL gat!!! How does it shoot? Does it have the tuned magazines? If so, are they for hardball or wads? If you do decide to sell it, give a shout.

very cool gun tjtucker! I wonder if Paul Liebenberg might be able to provide provenance on the build, as he used to work in the Pachmayr shop. Can't hurt to give 'em a call...

I have one Pachmayr clip which came with the gun so I'm not sure if it was tuned or not.
I had to trade a slew of pistols for this one but it was one of those must haves. If I do decide to let it go I will surely give the forum members the first shot.

That is indeed a very nice looking gun. There's a lot going on there.

My buddy owns this one, but he's not the original owner. God knows what's the deal with the front-strap treatment, but that pattern goes all the way through. Looks like maybe it was done with EDM.

Black Talon

Very nice. Does your friend shoot his? I have shot about 50 rounds through mine. It's the reason I'm thinking about selling it. I really shoot what I own. What barrel is in your buddy's gun? Mine has been polished to a mirrow finish and has no markings at all.

Oh boy! I love Signature Pachmayrs the whole barrel accuracy gizmo thingy just makes a cool looking gun. Tj you've had alot of nice customs but I think this one is probably one of the nicest "classic" guns. How does it shoot? Not sure I could part with that if I had it......

Nah, he doesn't shoot it, "too collectable". The barrel is a factory Colt.
