Good lookin' piece. I, too, like the combination of the Colt "tear drop" thumb safety along with a higher grip beavertail.

Thanks ! This was a "Lew Horton" run that had the Bomar rear and the dovetail front sight from the factory but otherwise was a "plain jane" 1991A1. Hard chrome really makes a difference. :D
Here it is when I bought it.

Great job Miller did on the M1991-A1, every detail is amazing!
Wow!

The M1991-A1 had one roll mark, the one like on yours - no such thing as an old or new roll mark M1991-A1.
Colt kept the 01991 catalog number when they dis-continued the M1991-A1 model in 2001, as the base
Govt. model 1911, and started making the blue plain Jane Series 80 Govt. with standard Colt Govt.
model type roll marks on the slide, that are still used. Colt did continue the serial number range of the M1991-A1
after 2001 on the replacement pistol. *M1991-A1 was made from 1991--2001*

Anyway - I love your custom M1991-A1, its beautiful! :P

Beautiful piece-- Bob's brilliant, and I think he's got the hang of it. That's a slick dehorning.
I love the gripsafety--perfectly blended...not to say the least of the thumb safety.
He also did a wonderful job with the ejection flar-- you'd swear it's original.
Congratulations on a wonderful shooter, enjoy it.
Bob really deserves the praise, it's simply beautiful.

On the 1911-specific forums, ORM and NRM are all but universally used to differentiate between the old, matte-blue guns, and the polished blue with, well, new rollmark. With the same model number, and a continuation in the serial number range, it's hard to draw a quick/easy distinction in any other way. While I do prefer the appearance of the newer guns, the older ones are OK, too. Nice gun.

Thanks for the kind remarks. I finally got to fire this pistol the other day using the new Wilson Elite mags and it (and the mags) was flawless ! I patterned this pistol after a Colt Special Combat Government but it looks even better than the SCG I have. Bob's work is top notch and I am eagerly awaiting the return to me of my Colt S70 repro that he has fitted a 60s era National Match slide (military contract) to. Pictures of it will be up as soon as it returns. Bob just gets better and I have never found anyone easier to work with.

wow...the previous pictures didn't really show off the finish. That's a realy standout blaster. The eye is simply drawn to it.
It melts together the further you look back...the thumbsafety's got just the right glint, you know?
Breathtaking--Bob's going to go far, mark my words.

And the last pic is a scanner pic. I just laid it on the scanner and closed the lid !
It does show the finish in a very different light.
