As was mentioned in SHOTguns... part II, John Harrison, Ned Christiansen, Jason Burton, Ted Yost and myself were commissioned to build five consecutively serial numbered Colt stainless Series 70's.

We were given no instructions, other than 'have fun'. We decided not to collaborate with each other - giving each of us the chance to 'do our own thing'.

Now, 5 consecutively numbered Colts are a pretty rare breed. That they are stainless 70's definitely ups the ante, wouldn't you say? Then to turn five obviously demented smiths loose on them? Well, we're definitely into uncharted waters here.

Let's throw a little more gasoline in the fire and add five very well known custom knifemakers to this poker hand, one working with each of the smiths in building a custom cutter to compliment said smiths custom Colt.

These five custom Colts and their accompanying custom knives will be on display at SHOT. Personally, I'm having a little trouble wrapping my head around how awesome this final display is going to look. Be assured that nothing like this project has ever been even attempted before, and I for one think it's gonna be a pretty kewl display!

At any rate, Jason & Ted have shown their incredible skills with two of the five consecutives in the SHOTguns... part II thread. A lot of (beautiful) pictures in that thread - enough that it takes a nuclear internet connection to have a gander at all of them, so I thought another SHOTguns thread was in order.

Here is the third card of this hand. I was teamed up with the well known Allen Ellishewitz ( http://www.elishewitzknives.com ) for my small part in this extravaganza. Just to make sure our gun/knife combo were true bloodbrothers, the wood on each was cut from the same piece of Coco Bolo. Hope you enjoy....

Just for grins, here are a couple more that I'll be taking for display.

This one is a Lightweight Bobber in Commander size:

Amazing work! I am liking the Hi-Power cuts the more I see them.

Very slick.
So far, I could identify who did what gun...let's see if this gets easier or harder.

BTW, I'm no knife guy, but those "slide serrations" are pretty neat.

Something that always catches my eye about a CT Brian Custom is the contrast between the matte and polished surfaces, the two flow together just right.

BTW- That LW Officers is super nice; I wouldn't mind taking it home. :)

Excellent work!

Thats just sick how deep you crowned the barrel and recessed it into the bushing on the Officers ACP - I love it!! :D

The dots in the slide serrations are spectacular too Sir - simply amazing builds...some of the best-of-the-best!

I love your name on the slide and especially the barrel. I wish more custom smiths would autograph their work! That would really mean something down the line.

Why couldn't my last name be Getty, Rockefeller, Hearst, Hilton(no-scratch that one.don't want Paris as a relative). I want all of them. :D

I see that Lightweight BT and think not only is it magnifico on the eyeballs, but sure would be nice to carry all day long. My hat would be off to you CT, but with little hair left I get cold real easy

All are masterpieces Tim. Congrats.

Love the pistols, but still can't warm up to the BHP slide cuts. Blondes, Brunettes, Redheads, we all have our likes.

I was thinking more on the lines of "That damn Nedley stuck me with the bar tab the last time we were slammin a few back at the Cochina Cantina just outside of Albuquerque". Whadaya think?

What I think? I thought that was Managua. But that may be because I was hittin' it pretty hard, on account of having premiditated to myself that the, um, drinks were on you. Did they open a franchise in Albuquerque?

Skreendoor works too. Actually, big as the mosquitos are here in Michigan, a screen that coarse would work. What is that, about 10 or 12 LPI? See, mosquitos here, between May and September, if they can squirm through an eighth-inch hole you have to throw them back. So a screen like that is realistic.

Wow, I've got no room to comment, but I'm sorry CT--
"Screendoor" just brings to mind that old line, "screendoor on a submarine."
Still, I bought my first gun magazine when I was a kid-- an 88 or 89 issue of American Handgunner-- and the first article I read was about your guns.
First time I saw highpower slats on a 1911 was, again, yours.

Several months ago I'd had an editing project that looked pretty promising with a hefty paycheck, and my first impulse was to give Bob Miller a ring about doing a bobtailed commander with a few Behlert style frame mods that I swear if you added the finger tang and magwell would be the spitting image of yours-- right down to the 10/11 LPI checkering.
The gig fell through and so did that builds been put off for a few years.
It broke my heart to tell Bob it was off until I've got a steady, sizeable income-- seeing your exquisite Cbob has brought tears to me eyes....it's a dream made real.

It never ceases to amaze me the way your finishes turn out--your Ti builds are almost purple-- and these latest pistols are nothing short of spectacular, if not almost unreal.

And the idea of you and Ned drunk...I'm surprised you guys didn't develop a nuke-powered 1911.

Burton's bride wanted to name it 'honeycomb', Ned.

We made her leave the booth for that....Image

Screen Door? You know what a blonde and a screen door have in common?

Nothing in comparison with that gun...I don't believe it had anything to do with being loose. I was fortunate to hold that pistol and I have to say, well done and well done. I do sincerely like the treatment on the front strap. Firm traction while a comfortable feel for people that may not be very calloused.

The Jury pistol was an excellant example of a well executed pistol build as well.

I guess the only thing I didn't like in the LTW booth was the size. It was like a little alley and you would have thought that the booth on the end could have gave up a foot or 3 to make it a bit more crowd friendly. I guess when you pay that much for a booth area, you maximize every inch.

Bob

It was nice to finally meet you this year, Bob. Yeah, the booth was sub-optimal.... we were very squirreled away. Those that did not have us as a destination, I mean just walkers-by, may have missed out. And you definitely guessed right, floor space at SHOT ain'ta give-away, even for a charity.

Tim, that was a mistake..... no more throwing Mrs. Burton out of the booth, ever, for any reason!

If I'm not mistaken, that was the cold, rainy and windy morning that she and my bride were headed for the roller coaster on top of the Stratosphere.....

Well, I've had separation anxiety since letting the pistols and knives go FedEx on Thursday. I've been playing hooky in San Francisco since then. Tired and whipped at SEATAC waiting the next flight ^_^

I'll have my mitts on those guns again before you know it: Picture Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sure was nice visiting with everyone. That's always the best part :P
