I have the opportunity to pick up an older Baer Custom. It's a carry-comp built on a 80-Series Colt Combat Commander with stainless frame and blue upper. It has Colt sights and the comp takes it to about Government length. It's old enought that it still used a Colt Barrel instead of the "Baer traditional" Kart, and has mostly Colt internals. The bells and whistles are minimal, but it has nice checkering, great trigger and looks it's honest age.I 'm an older guy, and really like things my age, so I'm really drawn to this pistol. I'll wind up paying as much for this as if I'd bought a new "low-end" Baer Precision model, but that's life, I think.

I'd like to hear someone elses's opinion about what I'm giving up or away by getting an oldie but goody, rather than a new plain-Jane Baer.

And I'm posting here instead of in Collectables, because I'm thinking about this as a tool, not a collectablle.
I plan to carry it, because what good is it if you don't. There are no safe queens at my house.

Finally got around to taking some pictures.

No question in my mind. You can buy one of the modern Baers any day, any flavor. A custom Baer Colt is pretty cool. In fact, if you change your mind, let me know.

What A10ACN said.

I gotta move from Kalifornia.

I'd jump on it in a New York minute.

I think that it would be a nice addition. I am sure that if yio are buying this thing even half way right, should you change your mind, you would be fine on a resale.

ArizonaShooting.com site says:

Could you post the pics here?

Got it now. Very nice. I love period pieces.

Is that a Swenson safety?

It does not look like most of the Swensons I've seen.
I was hoping the knowledgable folks here could point out all the things I've missed or mis-stated.

Great gun.The sight is an original Heinie that Richard made by hand on a manual mill I think.

Mushinto,
No go, but thanks for the effort. However Steve was kind enough to offer to email me photos, so I should get some that even I can open and view!!
I do appreciate your courtesy none-the-less.
Best regards,
