I heard my wife on the phone in the distance telling her mother "Oh, he's fine, but he can't talk now. He's spent most of the afternoon looking at a new gun he got in the mail." Not exactly, but I had been almost beside myself wondering why the FedEx truck was late as I was expecting a box from Ted Yost and the fellers at Heirloom Precision. That was one of the longest afternoons of my life until the doorbell rang, the dog barked, and I entered High Powered Heaven. I sure as hell wasn't going to interrupt it to talk to my mother-in-law. Or anybody else, for that matter.
No further introduction is necessary on this site to these images, only to say I blundered into a little luck when I got a good deal on the base gun at Gander Mountain, of all places. It was a Practical model, and having the serial number on the side of the frame instead of the grip made a huge difference. Ted suggested I might want to take advantage of this and have checkering instead of the usual stippling, and I said "well, sure." Little did I realize what a difference that would make in the project, and I still can't get over the astonishing quality of this hand checkering.
Suffice to say I am slack-jawed and deeply appreciative of being the owner of this pistol.
Thanks, Ted.
