I just received this from Don Williams.

It started out as a well worn previously customized, nickel plated, dual caliber, Delta Elite.

I asked Don Williams to do a total rebuild and some custom touches.

The project included more than most people would expect. The nickel had to be stripped, the safety tangs welded, the grip cut off and fitted with a welded mag well, even the arched main spring housing had to be cut and soldered in order to max out the mag well. Bomar sights were added, a trigger job preformed, a new 10mm barrel/bushing fitted, and the grip was checkered. Everything was refit, modified or replaced. Lastly, Don fit my grips to the mag well and fit a new safety and mag catch.

Anyway, there was a lot done but nothing was ordered that won't help me shoot it better. I plan to use the 40 S&W setup in USPSA Single Stack Shooting and the 10mm for Bowling Pin Shooting. I know, I did splurg on the welded mag well.

Don was very helpful and a pleasure to have work on this build. Before the gun was finished he had fixed two other 1911's for me and I am one happy shooter.

Very nice....I'm a fan of both Don's and Delta's, that one has both! :)

I didn't know how to upload the photos to this site. They look best in the "slideshow" mode.

John, I have some more pics, but have to do some editing. I'll try to post them in the next few days.

Another great gun.

It actually gets boring looking at this site, at times, because the gunsmiths who post here all do good work. Sometimes I find myself wishing that I saw something on here to which I could say, "That looks like crap".

What's your turnaround looking like these days, Don? I'd love to have the Springfield that you cleaned up and did some light mods to checkered and refinishing.

OK, here are some pics I took of Gregs Delta. This one was a bit of a challenge due to all the polishing and previous fitting that was done on the gun, but I think it all turned out well. The mag well in this case is a Morris, a Storm Lake barrel, welded frame to slide fit, CMC beavertail, and one of the last Bo-Mars around I suspect. The frontstrap was checkered at 25 LPI, and Glenrock did the blueing.

Don (or other Smiths), do you recommend FLGR's in 10mm 1911's or are the not really necessary? Normally, I don't like them, but have been told they're a good idea for 10mm. Fact or myth?

Beautiful gun. The stocks really set it off.
