I bought someone else's dream pistol a few years ago, always knowing I would some day make some changes. When she started to have hammer follow and double , I sent her back for a makeover. She's back in and although is a bit dressed up, she's strictly business.

Sorry about the pics...a photographer I am not. I can't seem to get good crisp pics of the roll marks and details...all the oil, lint and dust are me too...operator error.

Before she was your basic Spec Ops package with a Bar Sto and Novak's extended single safety. Here's what she looked like the day I got her.

I always wanted a beavertail gun (the webbing on my thumb thanks me already). So back she went to Novak's for a beavertail, wide notch sights (the old tritiums got dark and my eyes aren't 20/15 anymore), Spegel Delrin grips, and a nice thick coat of hard chrome as her finish got some fine lines and wrinkles. All new fire control and extractor and she's better than new. Here's what my Belgian beauty looks like today. I fully didn't expect them to cover the fire control work as warranty/no charge, but they did. I waited all day for that FedEx truck to arrive today, but it was worth it.

The only thing that wasn't happy about today was that I couldn't make the short drive over to a little shop on Niagara Falls Blvd, take off my holster, stick that BHP in my belt appendix carry, walk in with a big grin and say to Uncle Lou that the pistol I sent off a year ago beat the leather leather I ordered way before I sent the pistol back and I was forced into carrying it this way. Then a gale force wind off lake Erie would be tame in comparison to the breeze that was about to be shot. We miss you, Lou!

Here she is now:

That's a very nice facelift!!! I had always wanted a Novak's Hi=Power, and in fact it was this package that first got me interested in custom handguns after reading all of the press that Wayne got back in the 80's and 90's. I never did get one, but came VERY close on several occaisions. I had talked to Mr. Novak several times over the years with a million different questions, and always found him and his staff to be very open, warm, and patient with my constant questions. Fast forward many years and my good friend Witherspoon told me about this website, and showed me the custom guns he had b most of the artisans on here, and I WAS HOOKED!! The only custom Hi-Power that I have ever owned is a C&S Pathfinder that I picked up from one of the great guys on here (Thanks Gary). and I absolutely LOVE that little beauty too!
Sorry 1911..didn't mean to hijack you..your beauty just got me walking down memory lane a bit...she's a real tease!--John

Thanks. I know exactly what you mean. From what I have read here, Chip was a great man and should be remembered.

I have a Practical BHP that keeps whispering to me to send it to Heirloom...It wants to be a signature grade with all the bells and whistles. Soon enough, I guess. This one already cost me double.....my wife liked this HP so much, I had to get one for her and send it off to Cylinder & Slide for a little work. Maybe his and hers is another thread. I can't bring myself to post a picture of hers because she likes those stock rubber wraparound grips on her HP.

Nice!

I'm currently on the hunt for a BHP to have the Spec Ops package done to. Color me jealous.
