I'd like to announce the availability of the new Harrison Design Hard-Use triggers and ignition sets. I've worked on this project for the last six months and now have them ready for the market. I believe there's always room in the market place for high quality, innovative products and I've put together triggers and ignition sets with some unique features that will make them an instant hit in the custom 1911 market.

Image
HD-103-N and HD-103-B triggers for the M-1911 pistol, long shoe

The triggers feature solid aluminum shoes with a smooth face, free of serrations and adjustment holes. I've found through testing that I don't miss the serrations for manipulation of the trigger, and I sure don't miss the abrasive qualities of the serrations or adjustment hole over the course of a long day at the range. The shoes are oversize for fitting to your frame and have fixed over travel stops, intended to be filed to fit. The stops are permanent and will not loosen, creep and block your pistol from firing at a critical moment. No additional staking, pinning or adhesive is needed. The stirrups are polished stainless steel.

I am initially offering these triggers for M-1911 pistols in long and short lengths, in both natural silver color and also finished in black IonBond DLC. I am also making them for the Springfield EMP, available initially in short, silver. The silver triggers will sell for $24.95 and the black DLC'd triggers will sell for $29.95

The ignition sets consist of hammer, sear and disconnector. The are made from high strength tool steel, polished to a fine finish. The hammer is the traditional slotted Commander design, narrowed to avoid rubbing the slide, extractor or ejector. The hammer hooks and sear nose are prepped and ready for installation by a 1911-competent 'smith. The hammer features beveled edges and the HD logo.

Hi Rob,

That depends on the skill of the 'smith, the pistol that the parts are installed in and how the spring's are set up. I've used these parts to achieve trigger pulls from under 2 lbs. to over 5lbs., all crisp and long lasting. While the parts come pre-prepped just like other sets available today, I've never used them as-is out of the bag, myself.

Not being a believer in the long-term viability of "drop in trigger job kits" in hard use applications, I'm not going to try to make sales by touting these ignition sets as being a product that anyone who can detail strip a 1911 can buy this kit, drop it in and get a specified weight trigger pull as a result. It's just not a concept that I feel is feasible in most cases. I know I'll hear from plenty of guys who've dropped kits in their pistol and been satisfied with the result. I'm glad they've had a good experience. I think there are enough frames slightly out of spec that these drop in kits in some cases have hidden problems like only having good contact on one hook, or other problems that are just below the surface. I'm not picking a fight, just trying to be honest in my assessment of a concept.

Now all that said, these parts can certainly be used as they come from the bag.

Thank God! Someone else finally realized this. :D

I'm going to be in Atlanta next week, I may just have to part with some hard earned ducats.

Yes Sir! :D

To all the inquiries about medium length 1911 triggers and long EMP triggers, I'll have silver ones available in roughly 2-3 weeks. Black DLC'd ones will be along right after that in another 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for making this a success! :D

I'm all over your triggers, Brother, but the ignition set is a pleasant surprise. Why is it you do your best work when I'm out of the country? You should pay me to leave more often... it's apparently great inspiration.

Are there plans to expand the ignition set line to include spur hammers for some of us Neanderthals? See you soon, John.

Just a heads up to everyone who asked for medium 1911 triggers and long EMP triggers.

I have plenty of silver ready for immediate shipment. I'll have black in 2-3 weeks.

I just fitted two of John's DLC'd long triggers to a couple of guns and couldn't be happier with the result. Apart from being sturdily made and good looking, the difference in comfort afforded by the smooth, hole-less surface over a few hundred rounds is surprisingly more noticable than you might imagine.

I've never had a shoe with a fixed overtravel screw set into the rear, but a few strokes with a file had it in and working nicely in no time.
Top shelf stuff !

Best

Yes they will. Brownells has their initial order and it's just a matter of months before they show up as new product releases. They will have most of the trigger product line and will hopefully add the medium triggers and the long EMP trigger. In the meanwhile I'll be glad to take care of orders via email & PayPal.

One of the Medium black Hard-Use triggers arrived today, directly from John.
The trigger bow has DLC on the bow, this is a very high quality piece!

Its always been hard to find a high quality black trigger it seems.

John will sell alot of these! Thanks again!

Look out Greider - there is a 'New Kid' 'on the grid'!
:D

*If I could only figure out how to get a full house Colt from John this fast....lemme think about it*
:?

Any plans to make flat faced triggers?
Personally I would like to see an extra long, flat face DLC...
