I finally got curious enough to search the net, but it's O1970A1MA, not 1979.

Looks like they slapped a WWII era rollmarked slide, wide-spur hammer, trigger and mainspring housing on one of the new Series 70 re-issue frames.

Probably a good base for a full custom job especially since I love those old rollmarks, but the asking price is way too high. I think I saw they want $1200 for one.

A Series 70/MKIV without the gawd-awful roll marks. I got two under the assumption I could turn them into a matched set of nice pistols.

I never really cared for the S70/MKIV rollmarks.

Other people have said this, but I think their right, it looks like a parts cleanup gun. As in the O1918/O1911 slide, grip safety, etc being used up on a regular S70 frame.

Still, its a nice looking gun. Didnt make many of them either, FWIW.

Yeah....well the 9 is right next to the 0. I'm sticking with that.

They hit the shelves. Supply is dwindling.

I got mine. I will say, they are really good. Nice sharp edges (no one broke the corners!), sharp crisp roll marks. Minimal tool marks.

First rate gun by Colt standards. Going price is ~$1100. By far nicer than my NRM Series 70.

Good luck!

Technically, I guess they're from Colt. Colt did built it, but it's not a Colt model. Talo Distributors, Lew Horton's and even Davidson's commission special run pistols from various manufacturers. They are only available through those distributors.

Its the same Colt re-issue 1945 WWII with 'Talo Specific' serial numbers.

Youre going to use yours for a Full House custom build then?

Yep. Right now, I'm thinking a matched set.

I am just unsure of the specifics right now. Obviously, blued. And the guy I'm working with says he can do a slightly subdued blue that aproximates the look of rust bluing, which I am inclined to believe.

I am thinking some kind of "fusion" pair. Reminescent of a Swenson gun, but no squared trigger guard. Not exactly a retro gun either. 25lpi hand cut checkering (no golf ball dimples, waves, etc). NM rear sight with an ivory bead front possibly. I am inclined to have a one off grip safety too - something silver soldered.

Still mulling over it in my head.
