My son and I shoot USPSA / IDPA / 3gun. My son was fortunate enough to have won this gun from Greeley Custom in VA at the USPSA AREA 8 Championship. Mr. Greeley was kind enough to build two give-a-way guns for the match. One for shooters and one for range officers. Guns were awarded by random drawing. I had not honestly heard of Mr. Greeley before the match, but was impressed with his work. This is a unique custom carry Caspian. Officers frame, commander slide, sights milled from slide, checkering on rear of slide, stippling on front strap and msh, carry bevel, dark bluing, etc. Thought this crowd would enjoy a few pics. Someone just told me about this forum. Very nice. Take care, Nick-

Always nice to see something different. I wouldnt have thought that there would be enough meat on the slide to carve an abreviated notch and post...but you learn something new everyday. Nice piece!

I've only put a few mags through it as I wanted to keep it in good condition for my son when he gets older. Ran some Win. 230gr SXT's through it. The gun is accurate with the milled sights, but shoots about 4" low at 8yrds. Just need to hold high. No biggie. Interesting part was rounds were center for windage, which is cool given the sights are part of the slide and not adjustable.

She is a unique piece.
Thanks,
Nick-

The sights do take a little getting use to, but the concept is sound for a carry gun. As the eye can only focus on one thing, I believe target focus works best inside of 8-10 yards, (depending on how precision the shot is.) Beyond this distance I transfer to a hard front sight focus. There have been other builders in the past who have had variations of the minimal or no sight concept on the officers size 1911. YMMV.
Best,
Nick-

I like the sights! I wanted to do just that with this EMP I just finished but could not get another slide without sight cuts, anyway I figured I might not be able to get the front low enough. I've pitched that setup to a few customers but..... well, I guess it's not for everyone. A tip o' the hat to Mr. Greeley for doing it.

Nobody seems to like a channel cut. From use and experience, the channel does not work well. As Nick mentioned, you would be quite amazed how your eye will fine the front sight and index from it. This is not a bullseye gun or meant to shoot groups beyond 15 yards. As a carry gun, if your shot is beyond that range, legally you should be running. However, the gun will make the shot.

The difficulty in being precise is not being able to mill the slide and sights while trying to sight it in for POI. Using a standard rule to keep the front sight .030 above the rear, if the barrel is center on the firing pin, it will be close. If the barrel center is off a fraction, yes it will change the POI.
