...a small question.
Has anyone performed a serious, semi-serious, or even a fanciful build on the bones
of a BHP "Detective" model?
I know there were some lovely chop and bob efforts years ago,(Swenson I think) but is the work and cost
worth the efforts recieved at the end of the line.
Just asking.

Best to all,

Ari Ariel :D

I think the Detective model is simply a shorter slide/barrel.

Doesn't really do much for concealment purposes. Guess I wonder why bother ?
No advantage to be gained.

Just to throw it out there Cylinder and Slide has the "pathfinder" model with shortened slide and frame. Seems that the recoil springs need to be changed a lot and I don't believe Bill recommends +P in them. Would love to own one but they are big $$$.

I have an old Austin Behlert catalog that shows his version of a chopped and channelled BHP. A whole lot of work - hooked trigger guard, finger grooves welded on the front strap, screw-in bushing, etc. Pretty wild in its day.

Don't know if they ever really worked, though... :?

I don't think anyone has tried to adapt the Seecamp recoil system or a flat wire spring to a chopped Hi Power. That might eliminate the need to change the spring so often.
