I just recently acquired this new toy, and was able to take a few pictures that actually came out. I was so proud of my pictures I thought I needed to share them with someone.
Enjoy,
Dan

Greetings Dan,
That's a fine looking pistol! I have a PC gun too, a Shorty Forty that has been a great shooter.
Your're really going to enjoy that gun, I'm sure.

Dan,
Those are indeed great pics of your gun. Now, how about some pistol details? That looks well put together.

Steve,
As you may know it is hard to get info on performance center guns without writing to the directly. The best I can determine with my standard S&W catalog, it is a "shorty forty" but a performance center variation serial numbers were SDC0001-SDC0207 and only produced in 1994. It is a 40S&W with 2- 9 or 10(not sure) shot magazines. It has a 4.25 in barrel with what looks like a spherical bushing. The frame to slide fit is absolutly perfect, and I am used to custom 1911s. The double action is smooth and the single action breaks very crisp. The gun has yet to be fired! (I'll take care of that very soon). So I'll get back to you on the accuracy and the reliability.

Dan

Greetings again,
My understanding is that there were 207 .40 S&W caliber, and 154 .356TSW caliber, pistols made in 1994.
The bushing is a Briley, and its a nice feature. The "ring" part of miine was difficult to remove until about 20,000 rounds were through the pistol, but its not necessary to remove it for cleaning though.
One thing to keep an eye on is that the mag release will eventually cause the mag release hole on the left side of the frame to become oblong over time. This is caused by the downward pressure placed on it by the magazine follower/spring/slidestop/etc. I know this becuase my mag release became difficult to push beginning at around 35,000 rounds, and then became impossible to push in at just over 40,000 rounds. No problem though, as when I returned the pistol to the Performance Center to be fixed, they sent me a COMPLETELY brand new gun.

You gotta' love the Performance Center :D !

That's a beautiful pistol. I used to carry a PC Shorty 45, and really liked it, but in the end, it wasn't a 1911 and was sold off. It was a heckuva compact blaster and I sure enjoyed it, but no regrets.
