Hard use... duty ready... war gun... or whatever catchy name gets pinned to it the task is still the same, a tool to win fights. And if you want a light on the gun many feel this is the tool to have.

This gun started out as a Mil-Spec Operator, which is basically a Springfield Mil-Spec with a full length pic-rail dustcover. Out of the box they’re a good platform but they‘re heavy and a bit too bulk, even for a light rail gun. While not the most functional in their basic configuration they are full of potential and what you see here was the end result of more than a few hours of work by HP’s own Ted Yost.

Strip it down to its most basic form and start from new with a weld-up frame and slide fit. Add a Kart barrel, EGW bushing, and best quality internals throughout and you're on the way. A Wilson Bulletproof beavertail, checkering front and rear, an ambi-safety, and a lanyard loop all help with the gun’s intended purpose. A flattened and serrated slide is topped with a tritium front and PG rear sight, the rear of the slide is serrated and blended to the rear sight, and the slide is ball-cut to match the shortened dustcover/pic-rail. Toss in about 40 or 50 more details, finish the gun in matte black and fit it with VZ Operator stocks and all that’s left to do is affix a light and go to work. Enjoy the pictures!

Yes, that model is a BEAST! You and Ted got that animal on a diet & it turned out great!

My favorite detail is the clearance cut where the thicker part of the frame/dustcover meets the front end of the slide stop lever. Lot's of other really cool stuff, but that one really catches the eye.

Nice pistol!

I once had one of these, but of course it was nothing like this one. I wish I would have kept it now.

Someday!!

Everything I'd need and nothing I didn't.

What'd she weigh in at?
