When you send a pistol to one of the smiths on this board, you have a vision in your mind's eye of how it will turn out. It usually does but every now and then they turn out better than you can even imagine. For me, this is one.

The pistol is a Colt Pre70 series from about 1968 and I'll leave it to Mr. Williams to fill in the details but I'm sure glad it is home.

Thanks Again Sir.

This gun was commercial Colt that Cigardad sent to me and wanted a somewhat '70's period look to it. I dug up an old Kings beavertail, and that along with original Heinie style sights, went in with my Tactical Pkg. Add a classic Commander style hammer, 25 LPI checkering front and rear, lower and flaring of the ejection port and a flush style lanyard loop in the M/S housing. It was somewhat problematic as to the finish, as Cigardad wanted a classic blue but lives in a rather humid coastal area. Ionbond ended up being chosen, and that caused a bit of a problem. First, as it was about a 10 week turnaround, and when I got it back the finish was spotted on both the frame and slide in the polished areas. So...blasted, and repolished and off it went to be recoated and was returned without the spots. Since I wanted to get it back to him after the rather long delay, I didn't take any pics.

Very, very nice. Clean lines. I alway like simple and old style. Guess that is just me. Nice piece. Something to really hand down to heirs.

Very nice Don. Cigardad, that's a great looking 1911. Was the ledge on the standard manual safety widened a bit? It looks wider than normal to me.

Nice! I looked around and scored a couple of the old Kings 206 beavertails. Don has one of them for a project. Looks GREAT!

That's really nice! I love the clean simple lines, with elements from an earlier era...well done! :D

I really LIKE this one...alot! Love the classic Colt features you kept in place like round top slide, GI profile grip safety(No bump pad). My goodness, what a gorgeous Colt Sir! Outstanding work as always, Don!
