It was with a great deal of saddness that I read of the passing of Al Capone of Kings Gunworks in Glendale, CA in Nov 2004, in Gun World Mgazine. I started as a police officer in Glendale, and had to go to Kings on several occassions due to my POS S&W Model 459. The gun would jam every fourth round, other than a chipped extractor we never did figure out why it was every four rounds. Al Capone always was a great guy to deal with, he would obligingly drop everything and repair the gun while I waited on duty. After having to have this done several times, (extractors kept breaking), I was relieved when my Dept finally let us go to the ultra reliable Sig P220 and P226, I would have prefered a 1911, but we were lucky to get the Sigs. RIP AL, thanks for taking care of us when our guns failed us or needed that custom touch.

I grew up in Glendale and put many greasy handprints on their glass display cases over the years (started out as a cop in Burbank). I bought my first 1911 from Kings. Sorry to hear about Al's passing.

Toss me in with the group. I lived in Orange County, and would drive up to Kings fairly regularly to buy parts. Al was always courteous, and recognized this nobody who was a part timer then. He even recognized me after I moved to AZ and hadn't seen him in several years when I walked into their booth at SHOT. Best to son Bill and his family.

Al left quite a legacy of smithing behind. His family should be proud. I just heard of John's passing and am saddened by the news. From the LTW family to his. God Bless.
