This gun is for a very detail oriented customer who carefully selected the base gun that was ‘just right’ for the project and features he had in mind. We used a gun I built about a year ago for the inspiration for his project and further added certain design features, parts, and modifications to make the gun exactly what he desired.

Starting with the Colt base gun I added a weld-up frame and slide fit, Kart barrel, EGW grip safety, Wilson Combat Bulletproof ambi-safety, a Commander style hammer, and a host of other best quality parts.

The slide top was flattened and serrated and the slide was also serrated on the rear to blend and match with the rear sight. The frame was hand-checkered at 20lpi as was the arched mainspring housing that was blended to the frame. The trigger guard was re-cut and contoured and lines straightened throughout the gun including re-cutting the cocking serrations. The grips were custom made by Craig Spegel and left oversized so I could blend them to the gun, after which I inlayed the Colt medallions.

The year may have just started but I can easily say that this build may end up being my favorite for 2016. Enjoy!

Very nice, Jason. French borders and the big letters pair up very well.

Outstanding build! The whole thing is marvelous. The rear sight serrations continued onto the slide, stopping short of the bottom. The "French" border. The ball cuts and chamfers. Just everything.... I especially like that you used an arched MSH. You see so few of those on customs anymore. The checkering stopping short of the bottom and the blending at the heel are the icing on the cake.

Stunning.

Really beautiful.

Would you mind posting another pic like the 4th from the bottom but of the opposite side?

Love the large lettering! May I ask who did the engraving work? I have a Colt that would benefit from large lettering!

Thanks!
