This is a recently delivered 9mm Colt Government Model for a repeat client who is not only patient but also a true joy to work with. The more I look at this gun the more it becomes just about the perfect set-up were I building myself a 9mm Government Model. I would probably opt for a different trigger length and front sight but over all this gun ticks all the boxes for me. I’m happy I got to build it... enjoy the pictures!

Jason, are you evolving your way of shaping the rear of the magwell opening? I don't know that I've seen you do "square" before but to me it is at least in theory better at letting a mag in.

For sure the way I bevel this style of mag-well (S&A, Wilson, Chen SI) has evolved into what you see here. The first three photos below go back between 5-7 years so you can see how it’s definitely become a square cut. I used to try to keep the corners round but over time it just became more logical to me to open the corners as much as possible and (although I seldom do things the easy way) it is easier to finish blend and remove tool marks by hand this way.

If it makes the reload faster/easier/smoother, then that's good. it isn't like we have to worry about stress risers in the corners of a magwell/mainspring housing, right?
