I have been living in lucky clover since the Shot Show. After having a great time at Shot spending time with some of the best in the business. To my good fortune spending time with four of Don's guns has been a pleasure. Finally, the last two guns are photographed. I saved my favorite gun for last. An experienced, mainstay in the custom arena for a long time and fortunately for us a long time to come.

The old saying that the devil is in the details certianly applies here. I love the mods you made to the factory safety, the hammer and the Heinie rear sight. While I have seen a flattened and serrated slide I have never seen that particular take on that them.

While I am not a big fan of the delta elites that gun is gun plain beautiful.

I am looking forward to you getting my wayward Hi-power back on track.

How the heck did I miss that Dynomite Delta at the SHOT Show? I saw the High Power and the other pistols that Don brought and enjoyed them all. But, I know I'd have remembered that Delta.

Bailey, did you keep that one hidden for yourself????????????

Gorgeous work there Mr. Williams and your usual terrific photo work there, Mr. Bailey! :D 8) :D

Just absolutely beautimous, Don. Interestingly, I missed that Delta too, John. Methinks there was some skullduggery about....

As usual, excellent pics, Steve.

Ah com'mon guys.... That Delta was upper left on the wall. It's a COOL 8) blaster.

One of the highlights of the show was setting up the booth with Jason. We got to slobber all over the pretty blasters.

I saw it and DROOLED all over it at SHOT. It was on the wall board to the left of the LTW #1 & #2 guns.

MaceWindu - Congrats on getting the HP from Don. It's a beauty.

The Hi-Power is an absolutely beautiful pistol and very well exectuted, but, I would choose that Delta over just about anything I have seen. It speaks to me - "Jim, come find me and bring me home." It will not stop. Whoever has it needs to let me know so I can come get it.

Outstanding work, Don. Those two are truly unique and great examples of two classics reborn.

Thanks to you, Steve, for the amazing photgraphs you're providing and all the time you put in here.

GOD Bless,

~Jim Keeney

One of the best looking HPs I've ever seen......I particularly like the milled lines in the rear sight and the serrations on the top of the slide, the stippling looks perfect too...And, the grips too (are those Spegel Kingwood grips?)...The safety looks like a YoBO? Eviedntly I'm enamored by the entire package. :P :P :P

Jim, You'll have to wrestle the guy in KY who owns the Delta (I borrowed it back for the show - thanks Jeff). ADH, the safety is mine - Ted and I came up with about the same idea some time ago I guess. Many, many thanks to Mr. Bailey for his teriffic photography skills. :D

Oh, Don.

Don, Don, Don.

Man is that nice. Thank goodness for Bailey's skill-at-lens, too, 'cause this thread brings up the only downside I saw to our booth at LTW. There were so many truly nice custom works there that it became hard to distinguish one from the other. I did however notice this Browning..... are those the same grips that were on it in the display case though? Thanks for the great pics Steve-o, this is nearly as good as having it in my hands with my Opti-visor on!

One thing that's always a pain for me on a Browning is the fact that the radius on the back of the slide is quite a bit smaller that on the 1911, meaning there's a lot more arc. So, how to take the square blade of a rear sight and make it blend nicely? Your solution of radiusing the side of the sight works very well.

I don't think any of the BHP's in the case had been drilled for the aftermarket sear lever. I don't feel they are necessary to get a good trigger on these, I gather you guys agree? Seems to me like they would reduce pull but at the expense of lengthening it.... but I'm talking out of zero experience here, never having used one. Getting takeup, OT, and slide slop out of the system seems like the way to go.

OK, who was hiding that Delta at the booth?!?!?!!!!!!

I know if I saw something that awesome, my paw prints and slobber would still be all over it and show up in Steve's pics. What a beauty! Among dozens of other things, that mag well job is just flawless. And that crown sets off the front oh so nicely.

I did get to handle that Hi Power and seriously wanted to take it home. It felt super in the hand, especially with the matting. There were lots of detailed touches all over that thing.

AWESOME.

Don,

You just let me know who to wrestle and where.

Just kidding. The fella over my left shoulder prefers me as a mild-mannered, fun loving kinda guy.

PS - Can we get some details on the parts and work done? How was it when it started?

You're welcome, Don (Actually I'm in TN). Thank you for one hell of a pistol.

Mr Keeney, it started as a factory stock blued pistol. As you see, it ended up as a hard chromed beauty that shoots like a dream, a very loud dream.

Ned, I've only tried one of the altered geometry sear levers, and it seemed to not make much difference in that particular gun. Though they can be problematic, I've found that I can get a good trigger job on a HP without the altered geometry, and this with stock parts,a combination of stock and aftermarket parts, or all aftermarket items. Besides, I don't like drilling extra holes in the slide. Actually, I got the idea of rounding the sight blade from Ted (no dummy he).
Mr. Keeney, Where did you get that pic of Lew without his shirt? Sorta looks like the Rock don't he?

The mag well on the Delta is a Heinie, as are the sights. Checkering is 30 LPI on the front strap and M/S hsg. Frame to slide was tightened, Brown beavertail and Tactical ambi with STI spur hammer. An EGW firing pin stop was used with an Aftec extractor. We used a stock barrel fitted with a match bushing and re-crown. Hard chrome was by Terry Wolford. Thanks,
