Hello everyone, I've been lurking for awhile and decided to register. This is my first custom gun. A Hi-Power done by a local (Portland,OR) gunsmith John Bettendorf.

Since I didn't win the LTW#1 gun, I guess a custom 1911 is next.
thanks for all the inspiration, this is a really cool forum

Nice looking gun. I think a BHP will be my next purchase. Was the barrel replaced? I'm noticing the smiths do not replace the barrel with aftermarket makers on the BHP like they do on the 1911s. Anyone care to chime in on the reason why.

Thanks
TJ

Scott, Welcome and nice gun. I have a customer who wants serrations on the front strap, but I'm, going to have to work them around the S/N. It should make for an interesting project. Thanks for the pics,

Thanks for the welcome and kind words.

tjtucker-The barrel was replaced with a National Match unit.

CT Brian-I'd send her to you for safe keeping, but you'd need to send me something to shoot instead. This gun shoots great and I take it to the range every chance I get.

Don Williams-I was a little surprised that the serial number had been relocated to the side of the frame. What are the rules on this.

I definatly like the serrations and want to do them on a 1911 instead of checkering. I'm kinda of a gunnut amonaly. I have a bunch of guns but no 1911's. Never owned one. Got a butt load of HK's and love to shoot my Mark23 & Tactical. A good friend an I are going to build me a 1911 on a Caspian frame & slide. You guys are giving me my inspiration.

BTW here's how the BHP looks now. I switched it to Spegel Cocobolo grips (gotta support fellow Oregonians :). The Ahrends grips went on my "classic" blue gun. I like the way the grey blends into the blue.
