If a competent gunsmith were to replace the small front and rear sights on a SA WWII repro with Kings hardball or Yost retro rear sights that fit into existing dovetail, would refinishing be needed?

Also, if a match barrel (like Kart or Barsto) was to be fitted to any Colt or other blue 1911, would refinishing be necessary or can it be done without needing it?

Hoser,

I'm pretty certain that both can be done without a refinish. I have had it done to two guns and never had a refinish, but the problem you run into is in sight regulation. If they need to be cut, which they usually do, theyt'll need to be finished. Cold blue or paint might be an option, but that's your call.
