Earlier I shot some photos of a Colt Government that Ted had recently finished. Well, why not make a "carry pair" We often get asked the question "what would be the best carry gun" That is hard to answer because of the needs and preferences of various shooters.

However, this version of a carry gun comes very close to meeting the needs of concealment, power, function, and of course Ted did a few nice appointments on this one.

In the shop you see so many kewl guns going out it is hard to spend any real time with them. Well I have had this one for a week now and fell in love. The Kart barrel was carefully cut to a Commander length and fit perfectly to the slide. The OACP frame fitted to the slide the feed ramp cut and polished which mates up to the barrel in fine fashion.

Then the "appointments"
40lpi hand checkering front and back
Flat topped and serrated slide
Round butt to aid in concealment
Serrated rear of slide with matching Novak sight
Hand beveled mag well
Ted's modified beavertail
Frame and slide carefully lapped
YoBo match fit trigger
YoBo action components w/ crips 4lb trigger
Ted's serrated slide stop modification
Hand made Cocobolo stocks
Nitre blued pins and screws
Ed Brown modified thumb safety

Enough typin' here is some snaps.

Sorry about the fuzz, its on the house, no charge. Hand serrated Novak, not all of us at the shop try to do that.

Steve,
As usual, very nice photography. Thanks so much for your tips and time yesterday evening. I greatly appreciate it.

Ted,
Your traditional looking 1911s with the subtle touches that make them unique are simply amazing. This gun, the series 80 from Steve's last post, and the cased pair with matching tools you did for the SHOT show have all kept me coming back for more. I think I catch something new every time I take a look. Best of all, they look like guns that are meant to be used and appeciated... "Safe Queens" are no fun at all, and yours seem to bridge the gap between rugged tools and timeless artwork from a true craftsman. Keep 'em coming!

Take care & GOD Bless.

Incredible! How can you go wrong, Commander Length Slide, Officer Length Frame, Built by Ted! It doesn’t get any better!

Since my NRM Colt should be on Ted’s bench anytime, it makes my happy to see he is at the top of his game!

That's beautiful.. I love the rounded butt where the bottom of the MSH and frame come together.. I am definately a nitre blue fan.. even the barrel bushing is extraordinary contoured.. How the heck do you do that to a Novak, man that's great.. I gotta quit looking at this stuff before I am out another three grand or so..

Ted,
I called about this gun last Friday. I wish I was not in the middle of a remodel on the house so that I could afford this one.
Any chance you would take my left nut for it??? :P

Ted you are an artist. :!:

I really like the rounded butt, I wonder if this could be done with a recessed lanyard???
