I love to admit that ever since the MEU 1911 party a few years ago, I get a crazed look in my eyes whenever there is talk or (better yet) pictures of a new military 1911. Thanks for the article and this thread.
Although I would probably choose a Glock to wear to a mud wrestling match because I wouldn't be compulsive about cleaning it soon afterward, I believe a properly made 1911 would serve just as well. But my 30+ experience is in LE and not the military. If we get too dirty, we get to go home and clean up. And the union would raise hell if we couldn't.
A few questions:
-- Who was the vendor for the sandpaper grips -- I have a great urge.
-- Are the complete results of these tests available to the public? Although some would find it boring, I might have to lock myself in the bathroom for a few hours if I had it.
