I am addicted to this thread :D
I'm new to the world of custoimization. Forgive me, but what are the internals that make this particular pistol run to SOCOM specs? Were they made by AMU as well? Thanks for sharing!

I love to admit that ever since the MEU 1911 party a few years ago, I get a crazed look in my eyes whenever there is talk or (better yet) pictures of a new military 1911. Thanks for the article and this thread.

Although I would probably choose a Glock to wear to a mud wrestling match because I wouldn't be compulsive about cleaning it soon afterward, I believe a properly made 1911 would serve just as well. But my 30+ experience is in LE and not the military. If we get too dirty, we get to go home and clean up. And the union would raise hell if we couldn't.

A few questions:

-- Who was the vendor for the sandpaper grips -- I have a great urge.

-- Are the complete results of these tests available to the public? Although some would find it boring, I might have to lock myself in the bathroom for a few hours if I had it.

Thanks. I tried them once. They felt good, but they had a distinct "hollow" sound when my fingers scraped
accross them. It drove me crazy, so I got rid of them.
