I'm constantly fighting the notion of wanting to "retro" my Kobra. I love the classic lines of the 1911, and would love to see my Kobra adorned in a "retro" (bobbed) hammer and classic grip safety. What do you guys think? Ergonomic pros and cons?

Thanks, Kobra

I think you might find there are better choices for a starting point than a pistol already fit with an Ed Brown grip safety. During the installation process, there is so much material removed from the lower surface of the frame tangs, that you'll have a drastic mismatch, when coupled up to a GI grip safety. The hammer is no problem, but the grip safety will be a work around.

Now I know what you're doing here.
Like myself and many other 1911 owners, you're looking for justification to build a new pistola  :D .

And that's alright! 8) 8)

Just start with a Colt Commander (older or 1991A1) and just do it from scratch (Bobtail it, add S&W revolver sights, squared trigger guard, ect).
